Iceland is a land of multi-coloured mountains and volcanos, shimmering glaciers, bubbling hot springs, roaring rivers and deep canyons. To experience this amazing landscape up close, we will be hiking for four days along The Laugavegur trail rated as one of the worlds best hikes by the National Geographic. In addition to this we will then extend the hike by a further two days to cross the Fimmuorduhals pass to Skogar, a wild place of lava, snow and ice. This is the location where the volcanic eruption took place of Eyjafjallajokull in 2010 creating a new landscape where we will be walking. We will start and finish our adventure in Iceland’s capital Reykjavik experiencing the cool and laid back vibe of this city.

wild camping

experience required
This trip is strenuous. You will be carrying a 12 to 15kg rucksac for up to eight hours a day. The distances we will be walking are not far, say up to 10 miles a day. The weather may be bad at times so having the ability to cope with adverse conditions while you are walking and also in camp is important. Having robust fitness and a positive attitude is more important than being super fit.
