Cam Crag Ridge and Glaramara in the Lake District
This is a great circuit for a shorter day or if just the scramble is done then it’s great for a late afternoon or evening dash.
Location:
Cam Crag Ridge is a hidden gem situated high up in Langstrath, in the beautiful Borrowdale Valley.
The Scramble:
The scramble is situated on Rosthwaite Fell above the Langstrath Valley on the right hand (east facing) side of the valley (grid ref. 262111) as you walk from Stonethwaite. The route follows more of a buttress than a ridge and can be ascended throughout on good rock anywhere between the grade 1 and grade 3 depending on your route choice. It is a great objective for those relatively new to scrambling.
The Hike:
From the top of the ridge head in a southwesterly direction to the summit of Glaramara (grid ref. 246104). This section can be tricky in mist as there is no path. From the summit of Glaramara pick up the path running in a northerly direction eventually descending into Combe Gill and then onwards to the road.
Total distance and ascent:
7 miles from Stonethwaite with 700 meters of ascent
Time:
4-5 hours
